Applications
Biochemistry: It is a cholinesterase inhibitor; activity may be due to in vivoconversion to dichlorvos (q.v.).
Mode of action: It is a non-systemicinsecticide with contact and stomach action.
Uses: Trichlorfon is used as an insecticidal control inagriculture, horticulture, forestry, food storage, gardening, households, andanimal husbandry. In particular, control of Diptera, Lepidoptera, Hymenoptera,Hemiptera, and Coleoptera on many crops. For agricultural uses, it is appliedat 300-1200 g/ha. Trichlorfonis also used to control household pests such as flies, cockroaches, fleas, bedbugs, silverfish, ants, etc.; as a fly bait in farm buildings and animalhouses; and for the control of ectoparasites on domestic animals.
