Mode Conditioning Fiber Optic Patch Cord
The
mode conditioning fiber patch cord is designed for long wave (-LX) multimode
applications of gigabit Ethernet. Cables are compliant with IEEE 802.3z
applications standard. All fiber patch cords consist of duplex connectors on
each end of a cable assembly with a single mode fiber offset to a multimode
fiber connection point in between.
The mode conditioning
fiber patch cord is used with SC, LC and MTRJ equipment. It is customized with
different connectors like SC, LC, FC, ST and MTRJ. The mode conditioning
fiber patch cord (MCP) is a duplex multiple mode with a small length of single
mode fiber at the start of the transmission length.
Without using the mode conditioning fiber patch cord, multiple signals are generated
when a single mode laser launch into the center of a multimode fiber producing
pulse broadening. It is also known as gigabit launch patch cord, which is used
in long wave/ long haul (LX/LH) Gigabit Interface Converter (GBICs) with multimode fiber and Gigabit
Ethernet 1000 base-LX (1,300nm long wavelength)
The basic principle of mode conditioning fiber patch cord is to launch laser
into the small section of single mode fiber. The other end of single mode fiber
is coupled to the multi-mode section of the cable. When launching into a multimode
fiber, the transceivers can generate multiple signals that cause differential
mode delay (DMD), which limit transmission distances.
