ResidualCurrent Breaker with Over-current Protection (RCBO)
Description
1. The unit combines the over current protection of the "Memguard" MCB with an electronic RCD capable of highsensitivity operation with special fail-safe features.
2. It is suitable for installation in "MEMGUARD" SPN type A or type Bboards operating on single phase 240V system.
3. It is used for single-phase protection against overload, short circuit andearth leakage currents.
Over Current Protection
1. Over current protection to circuit conductors is offered by thermaland magnetic tripping elements is the line side, equivalent to the"MEMGUARD" MCB and is available in both M3 & M6 versions.
2. Operating characteristics on over current (the time/current curves) are asfor the "MEMGUARD" standard MCB.
3. It meets the requirements of BSEN60947-2 for miniature circuit breakers.Short circuit requirements comply with BS4293.
Earth Fault Protection
The RCD elements of the device offer core-balance detection of thedifference between line and neutral currents and amplification for highsensitivity.
Operation of theTest Button
This check is made after installation with all shields and covers in place,and requires the MCB/RCD and the main supply switched on.
Pressing the button marked "T" on the MCB/RCD applies a simulatedearth-fault to the MCB/RCD which should trip instantly.
This should be frequently checked, at least quarterly. If the MCB/RCD fails totrip seek expert advice.
Note
Operation of the test device checks only the correct functioning of the MCB/RCDat a higher current than the rated tripping level. The integrity of the earthing system is not checked.
Installation
1. Fit MCB/RCD unit as required into "MEMGUARD"consumer/distribution board.
2. Connect the BLACK flying neutral supply lead to the Neutral supply terminalblock.
3. The LOAD connections are made to the outgoing terminals of the unit marked\'L"LOAD and "load.
4. High voltage insulation testers must not be used with the unit in circuit.To carry out HV tests disconnect load side cables from MCB/RCD unit and testcircuit as normal.
