The plow, or plough, is a basic farming instrument used for initial cultivation of soil in preparation for sowing deed or planting. Simple plows were developed from hand held hoes, well before the early Egyptians over 4000 years ago. These primitive ploughs were initially pulled by oxen, and later in many areas by horses. Nowadays, these flows are gradually superseded by internal-combustion-powered tractors.
