Comparison between single stage water pumps and multi stage water pumps:
A single stage pump contains only one impeller. While a multistage pump is equipped with two or more impellers and its maximum life head is usually higher than a single stage pump.

The impeller can be mounted on either the same shaft or different shafts. If the impellers are mounted on the same shaft, the multistage pump will be able to produce a higher pressure head. If mounted on different shafts within a pump, the pump will be able to produce larger liquid flowrate.

To design and construct a single stage water pump with very high lift head is difficult and expensive. Multi stage pumps provide an economical approach to produce high pressures between the suction and the discharge sections of a pump.

Composition:
A multistage pump is primarily composed of four components, that is, the stator, rotor, bearing and shaft seal.

Applications:
