Ceramsite Rotary Kiln

The cylindrical body of the ceramsite rotary kiln on the idler makes an angle of about 3° with the horizontal. The materials enter the rotary kiln from the higher end (kiln tail), and roll down towards the lower part (kiln head) under the action of gyratory motion of the kiln body. At the kiln head, coal dust (or other fuels like natural gas, etc.) is sprayed into the kiln with a high pressure blower. The heat generated from complete combustion of the fuel, results in physical and chemical change of the materials. The materials expand and are cooled to form ceramsite.

The ceramsite rotary kiln includes single-drum and dual-drum types. The former is used for direct calcining in making fine particles, which ensures sufficient calcining time to improve calcination quality. The latter has separate control of rotation speeds of the preheating segment and the drying segment, which facilitates the preheating time control based on the state of the materials. And the dual-drum kiln is applied to producing lytag, and ceramsite products with shale or clay materials.
