Fluorocarbon is an organic compound consisting of carbon and fluorine only; fluorocarbonsare analogous to hydrocarbons but with the hydrogen atoms replaced by fluorine.
Usage:Fluorocarbon (FKM) has excellentresistance to high temperatures and a broad range of chemicals. Permeabilityand compression set are excellent. Fluorocarbons are highly resistant toswelling when exposed to diesel. It is also resistant to degradation due toexpose to UV light and ozone. In addition to standard FKM materials, a numberof special materials are available with differing monomer compositions and fluorinecontent (65% to 71%) for improved low temperature, high temperature, orchemical resistance performance. Depending on the degree of fluorination,several grades of FKM are avaliable - (A, B, F, GF, GFLT, GLT, 69% Fluorine)
