Guiro

The guiro is a wooden percussion instrument with unique shape. It is played by holding the guiro in the one hand with the thumb inserted into the back sound hole to keep the instrument in place. The other hand usually rubs a stick along the notches to produce a frog-like sound. It can also produce rhythmical sound by using a stick to strike the front part of the guiro.
