Applications
Biochemistry Dimethoate is a cholinesteraseinhibitor.
Mode of action: It is a systemicinsecticide and acaricide with contact and stomachaction.
Uses: Dimethoate is used to controla wide range of Acari, Aphididae,Aleyrodidae, Coccidae, Coleoptera, Collembola, Diptera, Lepidoptera, Pseudococcidaeand Thysanoptera in cereals, citrus, coffee, cotton,fruit, grapes, olives, pastures, beetroot, potatoes, pulses, tea, tobacco, andvegetables. Dimethoate is also used to control fliesin animal houses.
Phytotoxicity: It isnon-phytotoxic when used as directed, except to somevarieties of lemon, peach, fig, olive, walnut, hop, tomato, bean, cotton, andpine. Russetting is possible with Red Delicious andGolden Delicious apples, and with some ornamentals.
