Biochemistry: Dichlorvos DDVP is a cholinesterase inhibitor.
Mode of action: It is an insecticideand acaricide with respiratory, contact, and stomach action. It gives a rapidknockdown.
Uses: Dichlorvos DDVP is used to control household and public health insect pests, e.g. flies,mosquitoes, cockroaches, bedbugs, ants, etc.; stored-product pests inwarehouses, storerooms, etc.; flies and midges in animal houses; sciarid andphorid flies in mushrooms; sucking and chewing insects, and spider mites in awide range of crops, including fruit, vines, vegetables, ornamentals, tea,rice, cotton, hops, glasshouse crops, etc. Dichlorvos DDVP is also used as aveterinary anthelmintic.
Phytotoxicity: It is non-phytotoxicwhen used as directed, except to some varieties of chrysanthemum.
