Applications
Biochemistry: It is a fatty acid synthesis inhibitor, by inhibition of acetyl CoAcarboxylase (ACCase). Selectivity between grasses and broad-leaves isattributed to the form(s) of ACCase present and the compartmentalization ofthese forms within plant cells.
Uses: Cyhalofop-butyl is used for the post-emergence controlof grass weeds in rice. It is applied at 100 g/ha in tropical rice and 200-270 g/ha in temperate rice. For selectivityin Poaceae species, see M. Ito et al., J. Weed Sci. & Tech. 43(2) 122-128(1998).
