Bisphenol AF (CAS# 1478-61-1) is commonly used as a curing agent in theprocessing of fluorocarbon elastomers (FKM), often in combination withtriphenyl benzylphosphonium chloride (BTPPC). Bisphenol AF-curedfluoroelastomers show superior material characteristics, including thermalstability, chemical resistance and compression set resistance that areessential to their final applications.
Besides its use in fluoroelastomer processing, Bisphenol AF has beensuccessfully used as a monomer in the synthesis of other specialty polymers, including polyimides, polyamides, polyesters, and polycarbonates. Such polymersare used in various a wide range of specialty applications, e.g. in gasseparation and semiconductor processing.
