Nonwoven materials are produced with directionally or randomly oriented fibers. They have a wide range of excellent properties including absorbency, water repellency, softness, stretchiness, and washability. These characteristics make nonwoven fabrics an economical and safe material for many different applications.

There are a variety of production techniques available for nonwoven production, of which the spun-bond process is one of the more common ones.

Different components are applied to form various nonwoven fabric styles. Spunbond nonwovens are often made of polyester (PET) and polypropylene (PP) fibers.
